Sep 2011 – Over the weekend, an excavator was stolen from the owner’s site and later dumped at a park in Greenacre, Sydney.

It seems this is a common practice – a piece of equipment is stolen then left somewhere.  If it’s still there in a couple of days or weeks, the thieves come back to take it for good.  This gets around the need to search for and disable any tracking, immobilising or alarm systems.

In this case, the excavator was retrieved the very next day by the grateful owners.  The excavator had an EziTrak GPS Security & Tracking System fitted (for less than $1,200) and the owner used the FREE mapping software provided by EziTrak to locate and retrieve their vehicle.
